A Dance song
2
The song starts with a strong beat as is expected from a dance song> all in all the intro is average, nothing special about it. In fact, we feel like the opening lyrics were a poor choice.
The video of the song did fulfil its purpose. It showed the different variations of the Zanku Legwork and one can even learn one or two steps from the video.
Because the song is a dance song is that an excuse for terribly horrible lyrics? Not at all, as is the norm here, any excuse to shirk the responsibility of writing meaningful lyrics will b fully utilised. It is not surprising really, however, this does not mean we will still not hold them to the normal standard.
The melody of the song is also lacking for us. It did not feel like a lot of thoughts or any thought at all was put into the song. The melody ended up being a messy affair even though for some reason, Nigerian songs usually find a way to fuse decent melodies into their songs. Zanku's melody is far from decent but it's neither the worst.
The instrumentals were predictable, it lacked innovation and originality. It was just something taken out the same ol' beat textbook in Nigeria. We expected something more varied and with more flare but all we got was a boring lacklustre beat.
Zanku is strictly a dance song, the video breathes more life into an otherwise boring song.
