Afro-pop superstar, Zlatan is back again after the success of his hit single Bolanle Alongside car-dealer, IVD. The Shotan crooner is gearing up for the release of his debut album titled, Zanku. He teases us with a new single, Yeye Boyfriend, before the release of his album. Yeye Boyfriend is produced by Headies nominated hitmaker, Rexxie.

Positives

'Yeye Boyfriend' is a blend of the Fuji and Afro-pop genre of music. Rexxie made a very danceable instrumental, employing fuji drum riffs with a soothing piano melody. The beat was A1! Zlatan seems to be finding solace in his female fans as he attacks men who don’t actively show love to their partner. Zlatan used straight-forward lyrics, referencing his hit song Bolanle and the story of a sadistic man who wouldn’t take care of his girlfriend or partner. The occasional harmony made the song an all-round beautiful piece.

Negatives

The melody of the song was somewhat boring and monotonic. Zlatan seems to be lost when it comes to singing. His vocals, although clear, were not soothing to the ears. The reverb effect was over-used and it made the vocals a little harsh. 'Yeye Boyfriend' lacks creativity and originality. It sounded like a song we've heard a lot of times from Olamide.
