A dance song
2
Get Up starts with some heavy instrumentals but they did seem to fade subtly to allow for the vocal intro of the song. There was no point apparent of transition into the song fully except when there was a pause in the heavy instrumentals to allow Yung L sing.
The vocal rendition by both musicians was great, we liked their performances. This is one of the few dance songs that have above average vocal performance.
The melody of the song treaded around Afropop, Afrobeat and dancehall. There was a sprinkle of everything in the song, there was more of Afrobeat sound in the song though and we loved the reggae sound we got from the dancehall.
Get up is strictly a dance song so as expected we were not served deep lyrics, we heard more of freestyles and whatnot.
Yung L is obviously a very promising new musician. We loved the song and Reekado Banks sure knows how to make a song sound great. We recommend the song for your listening pleasure.
