A new love song

SONIC SOUL!
Yemi Alade, the self-proclaimed woman of steel is back! She recently released a new album and she went ahead to call it woman of steel. We just recently reviewed what seemed to be the headliner of the album, titled Give Them and we were not too impressed. At this point, you probably know our usual problems with Yemi Alade but it seems like it just might be different in this new song. Oh well, let’s hope for the best but expect the worst as we review “Home” her new track.
You can listen to the song below
Home starts with a very indigenous set of instruments playing. The instruments make the song sound very Igbo-like. We found the beginning of the song inetersting and progressive.
For what seems like the first time, we were impressed by the quality of Yemi Alade's lyrics. It is so incredible that our team members were arguing that she was not the original writer of the song. Oh well, that does not matter, a lot of great singers out there are not great writers. They simply outsource the songwriting part and that is completely okay. In fact, that is thoughtful and considerate of the musicians.
Yemi Alade's vocals sound great, we liked the sound she produced with her vocals and we had no issues hearing her in comparison to her previous song.
The melody of home has a freshness of sound, colourful work, use of sonorous pedal-points, the crisp and intense combination of indigenous instruments, splashes of percussive colour, we also liked the way the song was strongly influenced by the Igbo-highlife sound.
This dramatic piece creates an intense, rhythmic, driving, angular sound that is quite contemporary
