Plot Synopsis

Wande is basically singing about a girl that is teasing him.

Wande is very talented, perhaps the most talented known vocalsit in Nigeria. We get really excited whenever Wande Coal releases a new song; even the fans can hardly contain their excitement. So Mi So is just one of those Wande Coal songs we can leave on repeat for a while. For some, it may take time to grow on you as it did for some of us at the office.

Positives

So Mi SO is a hit and that's to be expected. We really love the fusion of jazz, highlife and a little bit of pop in the song. Wande came through with his vocal rendition. The video was also an interesting one, it was Afrocentric with Ankara prints, afro hairstyles and whatnot. It was reminiscent of the Fela days; they even went as far as putting his pictures with King Suny Ade. The beat and instrumentals were also quite good and unique.

Negatives

The song was filled with way too many sexual innuendoes; we found ourselves struggling to interpret most of what Wande Coal was trying to say. We also felt some sort of disconnect between the video and the song. there was no storyline whatsoever; just a couple of girls dancing and moving suggestively. We felt it was a lazy concept ( except for the tribute paid to Fela Anikuapo Kuti and King Sunny Ade), even though the video had two directors. (Juls and Tobi)

Bottom Line

Wande Coal knows what Nigerians like and want, he has found a way to remain relevant after over a decade in the Nigerian Music Industry. So Mi So has this soft melody to it, not your typical dance song but its good enough for some slow wine movements
