A love song about Vanessa
2
SONIC EXPERIENCE!
Victor AD is known for alternating between Afrobeat, Highlife, Reggae and Dancehall in such a manner that his listeners hardly catch on. Vanessa, a song that started off Afrobeat but ended up sounding like a reggae song for the most part of the song. Vanessa is the second track on his Red Eye EP. It is a love song about a girl named Vanessa.
You can listen to the song below
Vanessa starts with a familiar sort of beat, (What a coincidence, Victor Ad started singing with "Ther is something familiar about this your waist" Generally the intro of the song is engaging and appealing.
We liked the concept of the song, it has a subtle comic relief, especially the "call 911" part. The message of the song is clear but not very welcomed. We were mostly indifferent about the quilty of the structure of the lyrics. However, the plot development was great and realistic.
The melody of the song was pleasant to our hears, we enjoyed the reggae theme of the song. It seemed to remind us of Patoranking's Alubarika in his early days.
The song suggests he can do anything for Vanessa when he obviously has a wife, the music goes a long way to influence people on a subconscious level. A message like this may do more harm than good. We can only help he was telling a story rather than saying he would do those things.
Vanessa is a very likeable song, we really liked the melody. It is a song we would surely include in our playlist and play for a while.
