Starboy Terri, Fireboy of YBNL and Rema of Mavin are the next generation of artists in the Nigerian Music Industry. The future looks so bright for them and not a single one of them wants to let up. Unfortunately, as at the time of writing this review, Terri has not enjoyed as much attention as his counterparts. This is his chance to make people start talking about him. We just wished a certain somebody was putting in more effort to promote Terii but oh well, it is what it is.
Same You starts with a heavy instrumental playing followed by Terri's intro vocals. The beginning of the song gave the impression that it was a love song which is rightly so.
We found Terri's vocals to be interesting and he did not sound overly too much like Wizkid in his previous songs. (too much filter/autotune back then). We did like that he sounded more like himself, there were still influences of Wizkid in his sound and that is completely okay as long as he does not get lost in the "Wizkid" sound.
The melody of the song is the usual Afrobeat sound, it as engaging and tuneful at first but after a while, it began to get boring and we were just losing interest.
Same You is just one of those superficial love songs without any depth whatsoever. n fact, the love itself seems to be influenced by superficials things from the lyrics of the song. At a point in time, the lyrics felt rather to repetitive and really, Terri did sing much original content aside from the repetitions (following in your record label owner's footsteps eh?)
