SONIC EXPERIENCE!

Terri releases his first single for the year after releasing his debut single under Starboy, Bia last year. This new song is an Afrobeat love song, sounds familiar eh? It’s apparent that Terri really admires Wizkid, he admires him to the extent that he sounds like him.

Positives

The song starts strongly with an instrumental and a rhythmic beat which we enjoyed, it did well to set the atmosphere for the song.
Terri sounded like Wizkid for the better part of the song and we do not think that is a great thing. However, we managed to hear everything he was singing and he did sound good, so we guess there is no harm eh?
The melody of the song is not bad at all. We were treated to a full-blown Afrobeat sound. Quite memorable, tuneful and sonorous to our ears. We also loved the rhythm of the song, it sounded great, we loved the tempo and the overall harmony of the song.
The instrumentals of the song are lovely, the beat did well to give the song an interesting rhythm. Our complaints are that at some point the beat sounded overly too loud but then again, it did not hamper Terri's performance.

Negatives

We have mixed feelings about the lyrics of the song. Unfortunately, we tended to teeter more to the negative. The song may seem like a love song at first. We discovered that it was more of a "lust song". Even the video tells a story of attracting the girl with his new found wealth.
We know that Terri admires Wizkid, but we cannot help but feel like Terri is deliberately using autotune to sound so similar to Wizkid. We also believe one Wizkid enough, we do not need two more Wizkids.

Bottom Line

Terri has a bright future and we will love to see him carve a niche-personality for himself rather than being a sound copy of Wizkid.
