Triple MG star, Tekno (it’s actually quite surprising that he is still signed to the record label, seeing there is an epidemic of artistes leaving record labels to create theirs) released a new single last year December. The song is the usual Afrobeat genre and he actually has an interesting storyline in the song.

Positives

One thing Nigerian Musicians are good at is getting a decent beat for their song. We only wish they also paid as much attention to the other parts of the song and not just bombard us with horrible lyrics. The intro of the song is not bad and it made us start liking the song almost immediately.
There is still a lot to be desired from most Nigerian songs lyrically and this song is not any different. However, Tekno does earn some points for actually writing a relevant story. We like the fact that he was asking the girl that if he was not as rich as he is, will she still love him?
The melody of the song got even more interesting as the song progressed, we enjoyed it as it was memorable and tuneful.

Negatives

The video did not do justice to the song. How can you just take a girl that wore little to nothing throughout the song and was just showing off her huge behind all through the song? It lacked the right momentum the song itself had. It would have been better if at least a storyline was propagated around the girl.

Bottom Line

THe song has a jovial melody, the lyrics are still bad but the message indeed is a saving grace. The video was just like every other shallow video with girls in them.
All in all, it was a decent attempt from Tekno and it is a song one can enjoy listening to.
