“Oya balance and whine am
Give me chivita
Oya walankolongo baby o
Baby dey whine am”
Iyanaya declared his intentions to collaborate with ex BBNaija housemate, Teddy A and Bisola was not having it. She insisted that she wanted in on the action, all thesed tranpired between them on socail media. Bisola eventually got her way and we have the new single called Balance from Teddy A featuring Iyanya and Bisola.
When we heard that Teddy A was singing, we were wondering about his abilities as a singer. To be honest, we did not expect much, so we were quite surprised to hear him sound as good as he does in this song. While he does sound good, it does not mean he does meat the expected standards, it only means he performed better than we expected and there is certainly more room for growth.
Bisola sounded good also, it was reminiscent of the way Niniola sounds, that Yoruba-Alternative sound we have all learned to admire from Niniola. Iyanya did well to blend with Teddy A and Bisola, he did not stand out too much, hence, he did not steal the shine of the song
It would have been a great idea to have released a great video with the audio, this will have certainly made the song more popular and a lot of songs have gotten more airplay because it has a video (fever we are looking at you).
While it was a good idea that Iyanaya did not stand out too much, we are worried about his actual presence, perhaps not standing out was not deliberate in the first instance and that his presence is just fading. If this is the case that that does not bid well for Iyanaya as a musician.
An interesting attempt by the three but we could not just help but feel like any Jack can just up one morning and decide; "hey, I want to be a musician, It's the easy way out and the standards set in Nigeria is not that high anyway"
