A song for a certain Omaema
2
SONIC EXPERIENCE!
“Omaema carry go
Your body is on fire
Baby
Omaema, omaema
Omaema carry go
Your body is on fire
Ah oshe
Omaema, omaema
Omaema carry go
Your body is on fire”
What turned out to be a cheap publicity stunt about two years ago and probably impeded Skiibii’s growth in the music industry seems to be a thing of distant memory. After enjoying little success from his previous song, Sensima featuring Reekado Banks, it was only sensible for him to release a new single. We can only hope that the single “Omaema” does indeed make sense.
The intro of the song does remind us of South African genres of music. It is quite memorable and a decent transition into the song itself.
The melody of the song is decent. We enjoyed it to some point, well until we did not anymore.
The quality of the lyrics is poor. The lyrics have no substance whatsoever. Firstly, no defined message in the song, we found ourselves grasping for any meaning we could find in the song. He may have been singing for a certain Omaema.
The lyrics are repetitive and lack any proper structure to them. It felt like the words were just flying at us without any proper and deliberate structuring.
The song has too many repetitive lines, hence, forcing the rhythm of the song to be shorter and the melody boring after a while of listening to the song.
It appears Skiibii really is putting in a lot of efforts in the music career. However, he still has a long way to go. In order to be evergreen (that is a very rare thing in the Nigerian music industry today). He will need to work harder and not just produce a song that will be hardly relevant after three months or thereabout.
