“I’ll lay you down like an edge controller
I wanna love you all over
Wanna be the gun to your soldier
Show you i’m loyal eh
Wanna hold you tight like a folder
You are the beauty, I’m the beholder
Be the Range to your Rover
Told ya, oh i am loyal
Oh babe oh
Me i dey wait oh
Can you hear me now
So don’t be late oh
We belong together no debate oh
Make we relate oh”
Jericho is one of the new songs off Simi’s new album, “Omo Charlie Champagne”. She features dancehall sensation in this music; a case of Afropop meets dancehall. During the music review, we were really impressed with Jericho because Simi integrated a new genre into her sound for the first time. There was really no one better than Patoranking to feature in this music really.
The intro of Jericho is beautiful, it gave us a feeling of what to expect during the review of the song. We loved the intro instrumentals, followed by Simi's intro vocal and then Patoranking. It was a butter smooth experience really.
The song is a love song and it is quite obvious from the lyrics of the song. We were able to get the message of the song without any problems at all. Furthermore, the structure of the lyrics is one of the better structure we have heard in a while. We enjoyed as they were able to get us to flow with their story in the song.
Jericho is filled with impressive vocal renditions. We enjoyed their performances and they were able to embody the message of the song.
This is a case of Afropop meets dancehall, I know, I know, y' all will rather classify Simi as an alternative singer. Yes her sound is, however, we feel this is simply limiting Simi's diversity. The melody of the song is tuneful and morable with a rich set of rhythm.
