“Gimme love o
Baby gimme make I calm down
Gimme love o
Cos I really need it right now
Gimme love o
Baby gimme make I calm down
Gimme love o
Cos I really need it right now”

Seyi Shay is back and this time, she features Mad Over You, errm, sorry, Runtown we meant, whew! It feels like Runtown’s Mad over you has an identity of its own and he was present in this song. This song is a love song—we seem to be reviewing a lot of love songs these days. Let’s start the music review of “Gimme Love”, shall we?

Positives

The intro is arguably the best part of the song, I mean, Seyi Shay flexed her vocal prowess to the fullest really catching our attention.
Seyi's vocals were clear and crisp, filled with emotions and warmth. We could feel the intensity of the song from her.
The melody of the song is memorable and sonorous. We enjoyed the tune, especially how tuneful it was.
The instrumentals are pretty straightforward and we did hear a bit of influence from Mad over you in the beat of the song.

Negatives

While we love Runtown, it's starting to feel like he has an alter ego called "Mad Over You". Or what do you think is the case? Mad over you got a lot of success, unprecedented one for that matter we get, but it's time to let it go. The more Runtown keeps on using the Mad over you tune the less chances of the song being evergreen.
The beat at some point seemed like it was clashing, especially the beginning part, it felt out of rhythm and anticlimactic especially because Seyi started the song with her powerful vocal rendition.
Runtown's part was way too short for us, we wish his verse was longer or he sang together with Seyi in some parts of the chorus.

Bottom Line

This song is a great song. While the negatives do seem longer than the positives, this is only because of the expectations we had. This is definitely a song we will like to include in our playlist and play from time to time.
