Runtown’s tradition EP is out, we recently reviewed the remix of his popular Lucie song. This is the first song off his Tradition EP. Let’s just say the song did not really impress us as much as we would have. Let’s dig into the review of Emotions, shall we?
Emotions starts with an interesting array of instrumentals playing followed by Runtown's vocal intro. There was nothing groundbreaking nor scintillating. Just a rather average intro.
The vocals of the song were fair. However, at some point, his voice begun to sound a little bit electronic? We mostly could hear what he was singing so we guess the vocals were all that not bad.
The song talks about the emotions a certain girl draws, however, it took us a while to put it into a cohesive structure. This may be as a result of us getting distracted (the song was just not engaging enough). Our minds could not help but stray.
Unfortunately, the melody of the song was rather uninspiring and boring, we quickly tired out and we were looking forward to when the review was going to be over.
The song also lacks originality, on the bright side, it did not sound like his biggest hit ever ---"Mad over you" however, it sounded quite similar to Oh Oh Lucie. We get that it is great to have a trademark sound, but that does not mean this should make your songs unoriginal and boring.
At the end of the day, Perhaps Runtown needs to take a step back, talk to some music experts that can advise him on how to produce more original and not so boring songs. He has untold potentials but the potentials will always be untold unless he does find a way to revamp his sound.
