SONIC SOUL!
Paul Okoye came to shake a very delicate and it’s safe to say that he broke the table in the process. Heck! This is definitely a true life story and it happens more times than not. This song reminds us of a certain movie, “SAcrimoney”, except this time, the guy is not a selfish freeloading nuisance. The reverse is the case this time, the girl is the selfish freeloading nuisance.
The intro of the song is not bad, the intro instrumentals and then Rudeboy singing. There was really not a point of transition except you count when he stopped singing the hook and went straight to verse 1.
The lyrics of the song are straightforward. He talks about how he was broke and his girlfriend being selfish jilted him only for him to become rich in the future and she interested in coming back. While the structure of the lyrics is hardly great, he did a decent job passing the message across.
The melody of the song was teetering between RNB and Afropop but there was more of Afropop in the song. The melody of the song is decent and tuneful
The originality of the song leaves a lot to be desired. The hook of the song was definitely from another song. Furthermore, there were certain parts of the song that was a mashup of other songs.
Furthermore, we could not help laughing at the makeup used for the poor Paul, was it a reflection of the current heat wave in Nigeria or was it just poor makeup. It looked like his face was rubbed with oil...
An interesting storyline, with awesome singing prowess but poor originality.
