SONIC SOUL!

“Express yourself maami
Dance your sorrows away maami
Dance like say nobody dey look maami
Dance and wiggle you waist maami..maami
Loose guard yourself maami
No worry, me I no go tell maami
Dance well and I no go koba you
Baby me I no go koba you”

The founder of Banks Music, Reekado Banks himself features DJ Yung on this new jam from him. This song is a deviation from the genre of music Reekado Banks usually does. A subtle dancehall with an even more subtle influence of Afropop mixed together and you get the song titled “Yawa”

Positives

An array of native drums starts the song, followed by Reekado Banks' intro.
This is a laid back song so we actually do not expect any lyrical depth from the song.
Reekado Banks' vocal renditions are usually impressive and this one is not any less impressive. he delivered without any distortions.
The melody of the song has to be the shining star. We enjoyed how Reekado Moved from his mainstream genre to something relatively new to him. Although we could hear some influence of Afropop in his sound from time to time. That is indeed what makes it a unique and interesting song.

Negatives

While it is a laidback song, we were not really able to gather the meaning of the song. It just felt like a random mashup of ideas.

Bottom Line

We could not help but notice how he sounded similar to Patoranking, it was perhaps due to the genre of music. The song is great and we recommend you add it to your playlist.
