SONIC EXPERIENCE!

“This life Wey we dey live eh
Na dey your own make I dey my own jeje jeje
This World Wey we dey
Na do your own make I do my own Oh Oh Oh
Na baba God blessing dey work
I no know wetin them wan kill me for
Small thing them go don dey look for fault
Shey na everything them go want to dey judge?”

Oriste Femi has released a new song just after he released his first single of the year last week. In this new track, he talks about superficial love; the kind of love shown only when you are doing well, however, when things do not look so good they are nowhere to be seen.

Positives

The message of the lyrics of the song is straight forward. He preaches that you are really on your own and the love most people show you are superficial love due to your success and money. This is a very relatable story as it is the reality of life.
The melody of the song seemed to bubble and we liked it the first few times. However, after a while, the whole rhythm and melody were just tiring to our hears. In other words, you will get bored of the song if you listen to the song for long enough, we are talking about three to four succession here.

Negatives

The song starts with a strong highlife influence, the instrumentals and then Oriste Femi's intro vocals. There was nothing special about the intro and it rarely struck any chord in us.
The vocals of the song apart from being clear has nothing good going for it. It feels like Oriste Femi used a broken autotune. We would have appreciated his natural voice more, especially as he has impressive natural vocals.

Bottom Line

This is mostly an average song and if we go by Oritse Femi's normal standards, this song is really below average. We really do not recommend the song for prolonged listening. You can listen to it like once a day until you eventually get bored of listening to the song which may be quite quick.
The only part of the song that is above average is the lyrics of the song, this is ironic as most Nigerian songs actually suffer from poor lyrics and they usually have a great melody. The reverse is the case in this song.
