Yo yo yo Rexxie on this one!
Yo yo yo Rexxie on this one!

Naira Marley, the very controversial singer is at it again. The after releasing a song we absolutely found repulsive (soapy) he has released another one with a seemingly even worse title; Puta. The meaning of the word is as follows: (in Spanish-speaking regions) a prostitute.a woman who has many casual sexual encounters or relationships.

What is even more amazing and amusing at the same time is the fact that more and more people are falling into the camp of diehard fans called “Marlians”. The it appears people have no need for meaningful songs these days. Obviously Johnny Drille’s new love song should be dominating the airwaves not songs like pawon and puta. Oh well, it is what it is! That is the reality of the Nigerian music scene.

Positives

It's obvious Naira Marley does not care about those that do not listen to his music, after all, he asked the non-Marlians to f**k off. The beginning of the song is mostly dull, we just weren't feeling the song.
The only positive thing and the saving grace about this song is the instrumental. We loved the beats. Rexxie did the a good job. It's actually the beats that may make the song seem like a decent song when the song itself is way below decent.

Negatives

Naira Marley seems to thrive on controversies. That seems to be his selling point. It cannot be his ability to write songs (that is non-existent) nor his ability to sing (he's barely an average singer). The only thing he has working for him are controversies and good beats. Once again the song is basically about all sorts of vulgar engagements and it'd be a shame to see girls dancing to the song. Somehow Naira Marley manages to mask his vulgarity with one or two deep lines which seems to rile up the Marlians in his support. They go on claiming that the song has deep meanings. However the real truth is that is not the real message of the song. From the way we see it over here, he's basically calling a particular set of girls prostitutes, simple!
Is it just us but does the song seem boring? While the vocals are clear and concise, we felt nothing from the vocal performance. The melody itself seemed like a lazy attempt. Naira Marley used to sing with more vigor and passion. Oh well, we guess he has also gotten to the point in which it doesn't matter what he sings and how he sings it, Marlians will still stan him.

Bottom Line

"Marlians will always be Marlins" - SONIC 2019.
A lot of people (Marlians) will still vibe to the song regardless of the content they're consuming. In fact, this is currently one of the hottest songs around along with Pawon. For those that are wondering what Naira Marley and the song is all about, well, just take our word for it. It is an absolute waste of studio time!
