“This for my lover
It’s a song for the lovers, yeah
Don’t wanna be undercover no more
Ah why they sing for ya, imma sing for ya
Know say me hurt ya, but I go do you better woh
You know you so special
That’s why I sing for ya, that’s why I sing for ya”
Maleek Berry is an interesting Musician and a talented one at that, he basically produced this new love song by himself. This song features UK based rapper Chip formerly known as Chipmunk.
Tuneful and well-shaped melody from Maleek Berry, he did well to make the melody quite distinctive and at the same time memorable. His vocals also sounded good enough, nothing fantastic but just good enough to make the song sound good. However, we really did enjoy Chip's part of the song, he sounded crisp, clear and concise.
The instrumentals of the song did well to impress us, it was engaging but hey. simple is more.
We also enjoyed the video, it was reminiscent of the early 2000 RnB/Pop videos back then.
At a point we found ourselves getting carried away and lost while listening to the song, we were unable to follow it to the tee.
Unfortunately, just a few Nigerians may enjoy this type of song, it was sounding like a foreign version of Afrobeat, not that that is a bad thing in itself. We just felt perhaps this song is better targeted at Nigerians in the diaspora, especially the UK.
