My life is just all about the chada chada wara wara mula
Money money and wara wara mula
Money money and wara wara mula
It’s the money money and wara wara mula
Ego

Magnito is back with a brand new single featuring Falz the bad guy titled “If To Say I Be Girl Ehn”. The song is reminiscent of Beyonce’s “If I were a boy” but is the complete opposite in many aspects. It does feel like the song is promoting some not so great morals and we really do not like that.

Positives

"If to I be Girl ehn" starts with a couple of instrumentals playing, ranging from drums to pianos and possibly saxophone. The transition into the song was decent and almost seamless.
Falz's first of all talks about the stereotypical expectations built around the girl child and then he goes ahead to debunk it. His message and Magnito's message are quite contrasting which does not make any sense. Or were they trying to tell us the types of girls that are out there?
We did like the Hausa in the song. It made it sound more indigenous and original.

Negatives

The lyrics of the song is worrisome. We are actually talking about Magnito's parts. He goes from encouraging girls to date internet fraudsters (My guy go dey do G). He further talks about how he will not be paying for his uber and be relying on guys. He also talks about how he will be eating only steak and sushi in which he will not be paying for them. It seems Magnito has his eyes set on being a fat girl. The overall message that Magnito is passing across is terrible!
What is even more perplexing is Falz's part in all these. Falz appearing in this song is quite contradictory from everything he has preached against. In fact, it stands against everything he stands for so why did he allow Magnito to feature him in such a song??
The melody of the song is nothing special, we were not really psyched by it and we did not really enjoy it.

Bottom Line

This is quite a controversial song or so it seems. It may just be that they were trying to explain the different paths some of us guys will take if we were girls? We sure do hope so.
