Sypritmix

Lil Kesh decided to feature one of DMW’s hottest talent now. The song is titled Nnkan Be and it simply means So many (unknown) things exist in this world. The song took an unexpected twist in terms of the context of the Title, we had expected the song to be maybe about a true-life story or you know, something not remotely related to a girl. However, the song is about a girl.

Positives

Nkan Be starts in the exact same way as the soundtrack of an old TV show titled Nnkan Be. The show used to talk about strange stories that were happening or had happened. So you can understand why we had expected the song to be about something similar. Generally, the intro piqued our attention. Perhaps because we were simply trying to find out what the song was all about.
The song simply talks about how so many things exist under the heavens or did they really mean so many babes?
We liked Mayorkun's vocals, his talent shined through his performance. Both their vocals were clear and we could hear them well.
The melody is a blend of Mayorkun's Afropop and Lil Kesh's unique Hip Hop sound. The melody is tuneful and memorable to some extent.
We liked the instrumentals of the song. They are unique. We liked the occasional momentary change of pace to a sower and smoother one. It ended producing a nice rhythm for the song.

Negatives

We were mostly unimpressed by the lyrics of the song. For what seemed like a good title, the usage of context is poor. No deep lyrics really, everything simply superficial. To top it up, the song's lyrical structure is nothing to write home about. We were left mostly unimpressed by the song.
We have mixed feelings about the melody of the song. On the one hand, it sounds great on the other hand it sounds ordinary, talk about a paradox. Furthermore, we are not big fans of the nonsensical tyle that Lil Kesh calls Hip Hop. It is an embarrassment to real Hip Hop.

Bottom Line

We have never really been big fans of Lil Kesh, we are of the opinion that he does not have that much talent and he has not worked on developing himself as a musician. He is just luck that Nigeria is a place that prioritises some sounds over real talent. After all, any Tom, Dick, and Harry can start a music career in Nigeria and blow.
However, we cannot help but commend their hard work and consistency. Nkan Be is not a song we will like to keep on our playlist.
