A Love Song
2
SONIC EXPERIENCE!
“I think of you tonight
You’re always on my mind
It’s a miracle that you’re mine
I can see it in your eyes
I see it deep inside
Under sun or rain
Will you be by my side”
A brand new song from Mavins now “starboy”? I mean after the recent departure of Reekado Banks, does it mean Johhny Drille has finally gotten his opportunity and the whole of Mavins can focus on Johhny Drille? After all, he is immensely talented. He sings a rather unique and peculiar genre of music at least to Nigerians called Folk Music.
The song starts with a couple of drums followed by an array of instrumentals. One thing is definite, the song is not short of instrumentals power.
The song is a love song and he did well to pass across his message. How he talks about how he wants to be with her forever. The song is quite relatable.
The melody of the song has the folk genre mixed with a bit of Gopsel tunes. We will not go as far as saying the song is memorable, however, it is tuneful and we did enjoy it until we did not.
Even with the heavy instrumentals in the song, we were able to hear Johhnyy Drille's vocal performance well. All in all, he scored an average score in vocal performance for us.
While the melody of the song was nice at the beginning. It started to get boring as the song progressed. Even though Johhny Drille sounds unique (okay he sounds like Owl City so he is not so unique, but, hey, you know we mean in Nigeria), we started finding the song boring and we lost interest. It is perhaps he sounds unique that we began to get tired of the song.
We just could not bring ourselves to love the song as much as we love Johhny Drille because he is a talented musician. The song just did not do it for us and we were rather happy to move on to other songs. This may be as a result of personal preference though.
