SONIC EXPERIENCE!

Jhybo is at it again with a new track Jhybo is predominantly a rapper, however, his new track, Cardi B, is an Afrobeat blended with a little bit of Afropop sound song. The track was released on the 13th of July. Cardi B is a song in which he talks about a certain girl and how he has been trying to woe. Cardi B seems like a fresh and new sound from Jhybo and we have to applaud his attempt.

Positives

Cardi B starts with an array of fast-paced tempo instrumentals and then a couple of mumbling before Jhybo went ahead to introduce himself.
Jhybo's vocals were actually impressive, we found his performance enjoyable and we liked the effort he put into it. No, he does not sound like Johnny Drille, we are just saying normally he should be out of his elements in regards to Vocal performances as a rapper, however, he was able to sound really nice while singing.
The song is a blend of genre, a little bit of AFrobeat and a little bit of Afropop here and there. We liked how he managed to harmonise the two genres of song. We also liked the rhythm of the song, it is peculiar and a little throwback to his ability as a rapper.
Cardi B has an appealing set of instrumentals, the use of a deep woody bassoon solo is welcomed. The rich and resonant brass and the crisp and exact percussion dominate the scene throughout, as the main theme is somewhat developed.

Negatives

The song is well supposed to be a song in which he was trying to woe the girl and he even went to liken her to Cardi B. However, he makes it clear that he is being motivated primarily by lust. Furthermore, the quality of the lyrics is not that great.

Bottom Line

A fresh breath for Jhybo and an attempt worth applauding, Generally, the song did not really manage to get us to fall in love with it despite all the appealing parts of the song, we just cannot see ourselves adding it to our playlist.
