“You are one in a million (ehen)
number one na number one (Ehen)
Nobody but you baby (Ehen)
Na only you be champion
The bobo toh bad, I di bad o
You talk about class, e get class”
Humblesmith with this new highlife influenced single of his. He collaborated with the current internet breaker, Tiwa Savage on this love song of his he titled attracta.
This song is rich in the Igbo cultural influence, from the tone of the song to the instruments. This was well blended with a couple of Yoruba lines and Pidgin English.
The melody of the song is interesting and fascinating from one tune to another. The vocals, on the other hand, was appealing to some extent, especially Tiwa Savage's part, she was edgy and begging for our attention.
Many will not understand what this song is about and one would have thought the presence of Tiwa Savage in this song will make it more distinctive but at the end of the day, it felt like the tides of highlife swept Tiwa away and we were not able to hear that her normal Afropop sound in this song. This song is too heavily influenced by the East which means it is most likely a person from the East that will enjoy the song. If only Humblesmith had just allowed Tiwa infuse her own Afropop sound, it would have made the song more diversified and alluring to a larger audience. However, they decided to go the full-blown Igbo Highlife way.
