DJ Neptune just recently released an EP. The EP is titled “Love and Greatness” and the song we are currently reviewing, “Marry is one of the tracks in the EP. In Marry, he features sensational Banku singer, Mr Eazi. Marry is a love song in which Mr Eazi insist that it is the girl he is singing about that he wants to get married. He goes on to express himself that she is the only one he wants and how much joy she gives him.
We liked the intro of the song. We liked the beat of the gong and the unique instrument. The instrumentals were nicely complemented by Mr Eazi's intro. They transitioned into the song smoothly and seamlessly with the introduction of the drum.
The song talks basically about how he is in love with a certain girl and how really does want to marry her.
Mr Eazi's vocals were not bad, while Me Eazi is not the kind of musician that puts emphasis on his vocal prowess due to his perceived limited ranges, we appreciate the effort he put into the song to make it come out right.
We are in love with Mr Eazi's Banku sound. In case you are wondering, Banku is a derivative genre from the versatile Afrobeat with strong influence from Ghanaian sounds. The melody of the song is more tuneful than is memorable, we also like the rhythm of the song, especially the contrasting flow with the drum.
The song does not really have any lyrical depth and the lyrics itself could have been better. While not terrible it does have too many repetitions as if Mr Eazi had run out f things to sing. (or was he just too obsessed with the girl? That cannot be good).
Furthermore, the song could have done with better plot development, the poor plot development made the structure of the song look (sound) questionable.
