Lobe, a new song from Dicey (he seems to be very active these days) featuring Idowest (the outcast). To be honest we really could not get what this Azaman style of music is all about. we were simply lost throughout the song and we just continued to grasp and grasp at straws for any meaning but we just couldn’t. It seemed like some incoherent prattling by a couple of stoned drunks!
Lobe starts with the traditional Dicey intro with sprinkles of Idowest's intro also. There is a little transition from the intro of the song to the actual song.
Everyone seems to be sounding Azaman-like these days. I mean, just mix a good beat, speak Yoruba and start sounding as if you are stoned and voila they have a new sing to release. The funniest thing is most f these songs are inspired by debauchery.
The lyrics of this song is non-existent. no thought no intelligence was put into this song and it is an absolute insult to us the audience. How in the world do you go to a studio, mix up something like this and go ahead to waste everyone's time? In fact, we are angry that our time was wasted for this review this Monday morning.
Since we have established that the lyrics are absolute rubbish let's move on to the next section, the melody. The first thing is this song has no clear genre, it is a bit of Yoruba Hip Hop, mixed with talking, Afrobeat and a little bit of Afropop also. It is a caricature if a mixture and we will dub this sound the AZAMAN SOUND. The melody lack creativity and originality, it is just the same old sound with a few mixes here and there, hence, birthing a different monstrosity from the others.
