Bangalee is at it again, after singing an emotional song of encouragement to his wife after the loss of their son. He has also featured in Larry Gaga’s Baba Nla after then. D’Banj is one of the godfathers in the Music Industry and he has been at it for a while. He is popularly known as the entertainer because of his electric performances and his stage presence. However, over the years, the quality of D’Banj’s songs has hit a decline or are his fans just already moving on and embracing the younger Musicians. The Nigerian Music Industry is very volatile, one minute you are relevant and the next you are not. This is not to say D’Banj is no longer relevant. Let’s dig into the review straight away.

Positives

The melody of the song is quite tuneful, well, to some extent at least before it started to sound stale and boring.

Negatives

The melody sounded like something from a 2006 - 2012 song, you know why me and Oliver twist kind of sound and this is great, it is reminiscent and nice. Except it is also tiring and boring, we already feel burned out and we would have appreciated if D'Banj was able to tune his sound to something more urban without losing his identity. No, we are not asking hi8m to lose his identity, we are just asking him to be more innovative.
Furthermore, we wish Tiwa had sung longer as she brought a different sound and mix to the whole song. It was a welcome addition except it was very fleeting.
To be honest, we found the song to be devoid of any lyrical depth and meaning.

Bottom Line

While we encourage D'Banj to sing more often, we wish he will put more efforts into his songs. Hey, we mean no disrespect to the Koko Master himself but it is what it is.
