Seven years after the release of his debut album, Davido releases his much anticipated sophomore album, A Good Time. As the name implies, Davido tried to create the scenery for having a good time with this album. Off the album, here is an afro-pop infused RnB record titled, D&G. D&G features international R&B superstar, Summer Walker and was produced by Kiddominant & LondonOnDaTrack.

Positives

Four superstars from different musical cultures came together to make one beautiful piece of music. D&G is a song we didn't know we needed. The production was a perfect blend of R&B and afro-pop. Kiddominant and London came together with sounds from their various cultures. The smooth sailing synth and bloom guitar riff blended well with the afro-pop drum pattern. Summer Walker did a madness on this record. Her vocal dexterity and runs were superb. Every melody choice used on this song was perfect and both artists hit those notes perfectly.

Negatives

There's something about Davido's vocal dexterity that doesn't just fit the traditional R&B style. His vocals sounded too harsh for the record. Oh well, it is actually a blend of afro-pop and R&B. so it might be allowed. His vocals just sounded a little weird on the song.

Bottom Line

This song is a good bridge between American culture and African culture. A must listen, no matter your musical taste.
