Cuppy has decided to release a new song after previous amusing releases. IN this song she features new act Ceeza Milli, Shaydee and Ghanian rapper Kwesi Arthur.
The song actually starts with Cuppy's vocals, then she moves to the chorus of the song. After that Ceeza Milli takes over the song.
Abena is a love song, we could infer that much from the context of the lyrics. The lyrics of the song are just decent.
Ceeza Milli sure can sing, his vocals were sonorous and heartwarming. But guess what? His vocals were not the most impressive in the song, the honour actually goes to Cuppy herself in the short bursts she decided to show off her vocal prowess.
The song has an interesting flow of melody, from Ceeza Milli to Cuppy, Shaydee and Kwesi. We enjoyed the different blends, they blended so much together that we hardly noticed the change and difference in tune.
The lyrics of the song does not do enough justice to the song. We were expecting better symphonies.
Cuppy being the owner of the song and not just being a DJ anymore is not singing for long. The irony is she sounded really great in the short bursts of performance. However, that probably did more harm than good as we were left to wonder how good she was really and great it would have been to listen to her sing for a prolonged period.
Cuppy seems to be hiding behind other talented musicians and it is such a shame really. Tolani has only two songs and she has made more strides as a singer than Cuppy. Cuppy needs to step out of her own shadow and be confident in her singing prowess because it does seem like she can sing but she lacks the confidence to.
