Chinko Ekun featuring Johhny Drille, this is a collaboration we least expected. They seem like day and night due to their contrasting styles of music. This song was just announced today, 31st of July. Calling is a blend of Hip hop and Afropop.
You can watch the video song below.
We liked the intro beat, it reminded us momentarily of the movies that were acted in villages during the 2000s. We loved the indigenous sound and Johnny Drille's background vocals.
We liked the fact that Chinko Ekun that he admitted that before he could achieve this love song he had to link up with Johhny Drille. It made the story of the song more realistic. At first, we had thought the song was one of those boring old love songs. It turned it was quite different. The lyrical structure was good enough but the plot development could have been better.
The vocals of the song were clear and crisp, we could hear them well. We enjoyed Johnny Drille's renditions.
In one of our previous Johhny Drille reviews, we had pointed out his song quickly got boring because of his sound. It seemed what Johhny Drille needed was to simply collaborate with someone with another style and sound of music. The melody of calling ended up impressing us and t was not plagued with the normal "quickly getting bored o Jpohhny Drille's songs"
