A groovy Afro hip-hop record
2
'Way Too big' is a smooth hip-hop song with a stint of Afro-pop. It is reminiscent of a Sisqo-esque style. The production was stellar as Leriq, Diddy, and Mike Dean came together to deliver an up-tempo groovy instrumental that cut across the genres of both worlds. The combination of polyrhythmic drum patterns with the hollow but smooth chord progressions did a good job in making the record interesting.
Burna Boy came through with a scintillating performance that also cut across hip-hop and Afro-pop. He has found a way of always fusing two or more genres together. His delivery and emotional resonance were on point. Mike Deans melody run at the end added a nice flavour to the record as a whole.
The overall production was good as the vocals were clear, audible and well-balanced with the instrumental.
This is a good record. Soundstroke recommends
