SONIC SOUL!

I no dey, I no dey
I no dey sleep on the money o
Who I be?
Who I be?
Wey make I no go find money o
I no dey send anybody o
Me I dey hustle gan gan”
A rather interesting way to start the year, Burna Boy releases a song titled Dangote, the song is a fusion of Afrobeat with a little bit of dancehall here and there. As you may have guessed, anything that has to do with Dangote will be related to wealth and riches. The song is basically about hustle and whatnot.
The song starts with the hailing of Dangote's name, we also loved the progression into the song. It was quite flawless that it did not even seem like.
The message of the song was straight to the point and we enjoyed it.
Burna Boy's vocal rendition was decent. We had no problems hearing what he was saying without any distortions from his voice.
The melody of the song is actually quite rich, a blend of dancehall with our very own afrobeat. It is a genre we like to call afro fusion.
While the message is quite noble, the structure of the lyrics is sorely lacking. It did not really strike deep emotions within us as we would have expected of such a song.
The instrumentals of the song were seemingly rather heavy especially for this pace of the song. It just did not fit well into the whole song and sometimes it felt disconnected from the song.
The video of the song is slightly more fast-paced than the audio of the song, which kind of makes us wonder why this is so.
