SONIC EXPERIENCE!

Blackface is serious about his return. Moreso that he went as far as naming his forthcoming album “The Return”. After not being consistent for a while in the music industry, Blackface has decided it was time to get serious and consistent. ‘The Return’ album is scheduled to be released by 2020. Ife, his new track is said to be one of the singles in the album. Meanwhile, while we are waiting for the release of his imminent album release, let’s delve into the review of his new track; Ife.

Positives

Ife starts like it was an RnB song. We liked the intro that Blackface did. The instrumentals, the vocals and overall melody of the intro was not bad at all. It actually did get us curious enough to want to stick around to want to listen to the remaining parts of the song.
The sing basically talks about love; that's the meaning of Ife. He insists that he is stuck up on the girl of his interest and whatnot. The lyrical structure is decent and the plot development is just as decent.
Blackface has a unique vocal range. He may not have the ranges of his former Plantashun Boiz counterparts, however, he still can sing. He's not a bad singer at all.
Blackface managed to mix the song with dancehall influences and Afropop. It was a perfect blend and yih probably won't notice this. This gave the song a unique and fascinating sound.
The rhythm of the beats is not bad at all. We liked the flow of the song that was controlled by the rhythm.

Negatives

The song lacks any lyrical depth. It was just too stereotyped for our liking. He failed to string up evocative lines that will have stirred up some emotions from the listeners.

Bottom Line

Not a bad song really. This may just be Blackface's opportunity to get his really wanted return into the Nigerian Music Industry fully.
