A groovy Afro-pop song
2
Blaque Beats made a very groovy beat. Afro-pop percussions meet an Afrobeat chord progression with a stint of highlife guitar and occasional brass sounds. The instrumental itself is quite catchy. Asake delivered well, with nice vocals and groovy flow and melody. The bridge and chorus/hook was the highlight of the song. He sang like he was rapping with smooth melodies and it made the song a little more catchy.
The song had a very awkward structure. First of all, the beat sounded too looped over. There weren't any dynamics or a little change in rhythm or melody. I just sounded the same throughout. There wasn't even any drum-roll to indicate the movement from the verse to the bridge, or the bridge to the hook. Asake's verses sounded like a vibe and it felt like the bridge was the idea behind the song.
This is a groovy song nonetheless, Dance away your sorrow as you listen. Don't forget to leave a comment in the comment section.
