A remake of Asa's Good Thing
2
SONIC SOUL!
Sarz decided to do the remix of Asa’s popular track titled Good thing. We had previously reviewed the original song and ut scored a solid 7.9/10. The song sounds quite different from the original because of the heavier beats integrated into the overall sound of the song.
Good Thing starts with classic and stable instrumentals playing. We loved the feel the instrumentals gave us. It made us feel like we were about to listen to something exquisite.
The song centres on how Asa was tired of waiting for her partner. She emphasised that she deserved better and the ship had sailed and he could no longer have access to her. She also further elucidated that it was his loss really; he had lost a good and rare thing in her.
Not all voices are created equal! Asa is living proof of that, we will not even go into the intricacies of the factors that lead to sonorous voices but we will go ahead to declare Asa as unrivalled (No, that does not mean she is the greatest, it means she is unique and great)
Asa's vocals were as great as we expected, classy, soul soothing and natural. It was palpable that she was not forcing and we loved every single part of her performance.
The melody of Good Thing is the usual Asa affair, Rhythm and Blues with a sprinkle of Soul music here and there. It was tuneful and memorable.
To be honest we did not really enjoy the additional beats in the song. It seemed to make the song lose its simplicity. It is basically because of its simplicity that makes the song exotic and classy.
Not only did the additional beat water down the rhythm and overall beat of the song, but it also affected the quality of the melody. It may not have been a big hit but it was still substantial.
At the end of the day, the extra beats jst made the song sound corny. It watered down the quality of an already great song into a good song.
