When you listen to Asa’s music, you either get emotionally drawn to her lyrics or you become fascinated with the story she is telling. Nigerian veteran singer ‘Asa’ gives us ‘Femi Mo’ from her newly released album ‘Lucid’.

Review: Asa - Murder in the USA

Positives

Asa has a way of captivating her audience to her music and getting them involved emotionally. Only a few artists know the recipe for that. Femi mo is a story about a broken relationship, a woman who is depressed and wonders why she was jilted by her lover. The low tempo melancholic music begins with sad guitar major-minor chords and then her vocals leading the way, with a tempo of 72 bpm, the drums, and the brass were softly played. Femi mo is that kind of song you would add to your ‘do not disturb’ playlist.

Negatives

If you’re recovering from a disastrous relationship, this is not the song to play. ‘Femi mo’ will definitely make you remember your past relationships and the reasons why they didn’t work. Femi mo is an unusual sad song.

First, i listened, then i read the review. Very apt review.
Powerful song, the lyrics is purely emotional. Straightforward lyrics, not verbose, not overly poetic but it conveys the emotional message perfectly. Good job! She is like the Nigerian version of Adele.
