The rejuvenation of the hip-hop culture in Nigeria cannot be denied, as the on-going beef between MI Abaga and Vector has shifted everyone’s attention to hip-hop for the main time. Amidst the beef shenanigans, Alpha Ojini serves us his new hip-hop number titled, Pop. The self-produced record is the first single off his sophomore album, “Chvmeleon,” which is set to be released on November 11.
The production was infused with the trap sub-genre of hip-hop, with bouncy drum riffs and a piano loop. Alpha seems to be having fun, as he employed goofy lyrics and wordplay. Alpha thinks he deserves some accolades with respect to what he has done for the hip-hop culture in Nigeria. His vocals were clear and crisp and his rhythm bounced well on the instrumental. His cadence and style was top-notch and had a playful vibe to it. A very bouncy tune this is.
