Plot Synopsis

A wavy hip-hop record.

Verses

Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Alpha Ojini releases his new album, Chvmeleon. CalmDown is the twelveth song off the album that features vocal power-house, GoodGirl LA. The song was produced by Alpha himself.

Listen below:

Positives

The song started with a bunch of string sounds playing monotonous minor melodies. Alpha made a wavy afrobeat that had a smooth hip-hop vibe. Alpha delivered a laid back verse on the first and second. He rapped about how he was the joke of the day when he was broke. His delivery and flow were cool.

Negatives

The song was boring, to be honest. There was no climactic point or something that could drive the song further than the level it was. The melodies were uninteresting and didn't captivate me enough. The distinctive energy difference of the vocals and delivery GoodGirl LA and Alpha Ojini didn't do the song any good. Alpha Ojini was too calm for the energy GoodGirl LA brought. The song needed that energy on the verse because of the plot of the song.
