“You be like plantain chips when I been in traffic all day
U be like 100 litres when fuel scarcity don dey
You be like NEPA bring light for one whole night a day
U be like road wey dem fix pothole just yesterday
You be like police wey no ask for bribe
Conductor wey dey get change
I wonder where they found you
Love to be around you
Doesn’t look that way
But it’s beauty that surrounds you”
Ajebutter seems to be quite active, after releasing a rather interesting EP with BOJ last year, he goes ahead to release his first single for the year.
This is an amusing song, a metaphoric love song that is not usual. We found the comparisons creative and comic, to say the least.
The song starts with instrumentals playing with different tunes before introducing Ajebutter's vocals to the mix of the song.
The lyrics of the song are actually fascinating as we said earlier. Ajebutter employs the use of comic metaphors to describe his love for the said woman. The message of the song is quite clear, the structure could do better but hey, it is probably miles ahead of most Nigerian songs out there.
Ajebutter's vocals in the song were serenading. Imagine our surprise to listen to this kind of song from Ajebutter, It was not a bad performance from Ajebutter, he was clear all through the song, hence, we had no issues hearing what he was singing.
The melody of the song is your usual Ajebutter sound, teetering between Afrobeat and Afropop
The song does not have a video to support it. We believe a video would have made the song even more interesting and it would have helped the song to become popular.
The way we see it, the song has not been promoted well. I mean Ajebutter really needs to talk to his management team.
