New Discovery of the Year (2019) – Tems
Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems is a singer, songwriter and record producer redefining the music scene in Nigeria. Tems bring a unique urban sound, blending R&B, soul and soft pop with the Afro sound. She was raised by a single mother and she attended Dowen College in Lagos. She later moved to South Africa to study Economics.
Tems released Looku Looku in January 2019, but it was the release of Try Me in August that propelled her.
