It was not a surprise that we got ‘On God’ days before Davido came back to his mother-land after a long hiatus. This song served as a DMW reunion, but it lacked the DMW chemistry we experienced on ‘Mind’ and ‘Aje’. They are not to be blamed, as they have all been doing a lot of things for their personal careers. Davido is gearing up for his anticipated ‘A Good Time’ album, Mayorkun is sorting for life after ‘TMOL’ and Dremo is prepping for ‘Codename Vol 2’.
One thing we must say is, Dremo is an amazing lyricist. He delivered well on a genre that isn't his strong point. The advent use of inter-woven percussion was also a good thing that helped to carry the song.
Afro-house is a heavy genre, but this song was not heavy enough. It is actually not heavy at all as the kicks, well, didn’t KICK. Like most Afro-house, the lyrics were shabby, but Dremo’s verse stood out. While we can dance to it, there are a lot of unanswered questions about this song as it seems like it was rushed and not properly mixed
Generally, it is a groovy song and it will definitely be on air for a while.
