Sidney Onoriode Esiri was born 1 May 1980 in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. He’s known commonly as Dr. SID. He is a Nigerian singer-songwriter. He is an Urhobo from Delta state but raised in Lagos. His mother a successful fashion designer and his father the legendary actor Justus Esiri, who is a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), and famous for his role as the Village Headmaster a Nigerian sitcom popular in the 1980s.The second child of 4 children from an early age he had his heart set on becoming an entertainer. However, his life took a different course graduating from the Nigerian Air force Secondary school Ikeja, SID went on to the University of Ibadan.

(UI) to study Dental Surgery, During his school years, his flair for entertainment could not be hidden as he took part in school plays, dance competitions, and concerts winning numerous awards along the way. After completing his primary & secondary school education, Dr. Sid proceeded to Univesity of Ibadan Oyo State, Nigerian and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Surgery.
In 1999, Dr. Sid signed a record deal contract with Trybe Records Label and worked as a choreographer, backup singer, and dancer. In 2002, Dr. Sid got his dance in front of the mic, when he was made of a Da “Trybe” and given a spot on the song that caused a revolution in Nigeria Hip-hop “OYA” in 2002 alongside with Sasha, 2-Shotz and Timi. In 2005, he started recording a studio album titled “Prognosis” which featured like “Raise Da Roof”. He later abandoned the album.
In 2004, he released his first studio album ” The Big Picture”. He released his second studio album “Curriculum Vitae” which was released on December 2007. In 2010. he released his third studio album “Turning Point” in 2012. In 2014, he released his fourth album “Solar Plexus”. In 2013, he released his fifth studio album “Siduction”. Following a fall out of the partnership at ‘Mo Hits Records by Don Jazzy and D’banj, Dr. Sid has since been signed on to Don Jazzy Mavin Records.
In 2014, Dr.Sid starred in Moses Inwang Movie “The Last 3 Digits” where he played the role of an NYSC corp member and a friend to Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi in the movie. The movie is packed with so many actions and intrigues. The movie won the People’s Film Festival Best International Film awards in Paris, France.
In 2005, he was nominated as Best New Act at 2005 Amen Awards. In 2008, he won the award for Fresh Video at the Soundcity Music Video Awards. In 2009, he won the award for the Best Afro Hip-hop World Awards. In 2011, he won the award for Hip-hop World Revelation of the Year at the Hip-hop World Awards. In 2011, he won the award for the Best Pop Single at the Hip-hop World Awards. In 2014, he won the Best Collaboration at the City People Entertainment Awards.
